The main problem with mine is that it powers down after a few minutes of no movement, and then it fails to power up again making it basically useless for tracking anything. I had the trackstick mini download drivers right from manager as the troubleshooting guide directs. All installed complete. But as soon as I plug the mini in again drivers automatically begin to download and manager does not recognize the device.

All should have been an automatic download not going to the website to download the manager and then having trouble with Win7 downloading the wrong drivers. What a pain.

Purchased the TrackStick Mini in Nov First time I used it, it was missing records, hour or more at at time. Then it failed for days at a time. Contacted Trackstick cust service after first failure.

I advised them and even sent a screen capture to show them. They responded with the same one line suggestion. Then they told me that the unit isnt MilGrade equip and I should have purchased a Marine or commercial grade devices out there and asked if I ever had a cell phone drop a call!! When I told them Ive never missed 3 whole days of cell calls they told me they sell units to the military and DHS.

Wait, I thought they werent MilGrade?.. If you want a GPS logger, look elsewhere. This is their response: Our devices are used all over the world, covertly. Our devices have been instrumental in assisting, tracking and securing the likes of military ops. We have never received a complaint from Homeland Security who currently have over several hundred in their possession and are used on a daily basis. Tracksticks are not military grade GPS devices. If the data is not shown in the list, it means that the software either combined it with other data or the data coming off of the satellite at the time was not usable.

Just like a cell phone gets dropped calls or weak signals, GPS device can loose data. Tracksticks are consumer grade devices and act as such. Very well-written article!
